The following is Alinea Workshops Terms & Conditions. Please read carefully. PDF copies are available via email (downloadable link coming soon).
Quotes
Alinea Workshop provides written quotes for all work at the request of the customer. Quotes are valid for 90 days and after such time must be rewritten.
Ordering
Payment must be made in full for orders under $1000 before work begins.
We require a 50% deposit on all orders over $1000 to commence work. Balance (including shipping charges) must be paid in full at least 7 days prior to expected completion of order. All deposits are non-refundable after 7 days.
Pieces listed as “in stock” must be paid in full before shipping/pickup arrangements are made
Storage Charges
Storage charges begin to accrue if a piece remains in our possession (10) days after the piece is complete and the customer has received written notice as such. Storage charges are 5% of the final value of a piece, charged weekly. A $600 chair would accrue $30 weekly until being considered abandoned.
Abandonment
A completed or otherwise paid-for piece, including those listed as “in stock”, will be considered abandoned 90 days after the final invoice is sent without prior arrangement with us. All abandoned pieces will be returned to our inventory and no refunds will be issued.
Payment Methods
Alinea Workshop accepts payment via Credit Card, Bank Transfer, and Check. We also accept electronic transfer (Venmo and Zelle) for payments under $1000.
Shipping
All pieces can be shipped nationally via several white glove vendors we have relationships with. Local delivery by us can be arranged at our discretion, within the DC-Baltimore metroplex and surrounding regions. Complex millwork pieces or custom pieces requiring assembly may require our delivery and installation and will be quoted inclusive of these charges.
Returns
Returns will be considered exclusively in cases of obvious manufacturer defects. Wood, leather, & stone are all natural materials and as such can have considerable variance. All efforts are made to ensure visual harmony and to adhere to our strict aesthetic standards. As such, customer dissatisfaction in these areas will not be considered as a reason for a return/refund request.
If customers are dissatisfied with the quality of their pieces, they are to notify us within 30 days of receiving them with documentation of the defects. It is at Alinea Workshops sole discretion to consider returns. Claims must be submitted via email and include photographic evidence of dissatisfactory work.

• Adequacy of any electronic components.
This warranty does not cover any product repaired or altered by any person not so authorized by Alinea Workshop, including user modification, improper use, or installation of products.
Alinea Workshop must be notified of any claim against this warranty within five (5) years (commercial) or ten (10) years(residential) from the date of shipment. Customization
Alinea Workshop is proud to provide a broad and flexible array of materials and finishes in all of our pieces. However, custom materials and finishes are always up for consideration to ensure customer satisfaction.
When a custom material or finish is specified, it will require additional sampling, and we will require written approval of all custom finishes.
Please note: some woods or materials simply will not work in some applications. It is Alinea Workshops sole discretion to allow for specification of custom materials including alternative wood species or stone types.
If a lacquer color is specified, it must be a standard color from a commercially available vendor. In such cases chips will not be issued for customer approval unless requested by the customer. If a custom color is required, we will provide a chip, based on the customer's own chip or their specifications, for written approval prior to beginning any work. This will have lead time and cost implications as well on a case-by-case basis, and will be quoted as such.
Lead Times
Our lead times are given to customers for the purposes of logistical planning for their home or business. Lead times are our best estimates and are not legally binding contracts. Custom furniture lead times may vary on a case by case basis.
Standard pieces, ordered from our site, will typically carry a 6-8 week lead time.
Custom pieces may be longer depending on the specific conditions of the piece. Estimated lead times for each piece will be stated in all quotes and invoices. Stated lead times may change and we will make our best efforts to notify customers immediately, in writing, of any such changes. Delays in production not originating from our workshop will not be considered grounds for liquidated damages. Delays originating from issues in our work will be considered. We will present written evidence of delay origins where applicable upon customer request.
Samples
Alinea workshop is happy to provide samples for project specific finishes or full sets for your sample library. One set of finishes will be provided to each designers office (or each location for larger firms) and project specific finish samples are provided to end users.
If additional rounds of samples are requested or custom finishes are specified, there will be charges for the additional labor and logistics involved.
Care & Maintenance
Unlike furniture made from other materials, solid wood continues to “live” after its tree life has ended. With seasonal moisture and temperature changes, wood expands and contracts – this is something that has been accounted for in the construction of all of our pieces. However, movement of the piece can be expected with the seasons. The furniture should be kept indoors within a climate-controlled area and out of direct sunlight.
All furniture should be used in a stable, controlled atmosphere and positioned to avoid direct sunlight. The ideal climate is 65-75 degrees Fahrenheit with 35-55% relative humidity. Never place your furniture piece directly next to or in the direct line of a climate control source such as a radiator or HVAC vent, as this can cause warping of the wood and joint failure.
To remove dust from the natural cracks in our furniture pieces, use a soft toothbrush.
All pieces, unless otherwise specified, are finished with a no-VOC organic hardwax oil. Regular maintenance cleaning should be done with a damp rag or paper towel and then dried off immediately. Occasionally, hardwax oil finishes will benefit from a rejuvenation with a product such as Rubio Monocoat's Surface Care Spray Kit. Beyond that, there are many products that can support a piece’s beautiful luster and soft touch. Please contact Alinea Workshop before purchasing and using any products, as we would be happy to guide you to your best finish.
Repurchase
Alinea Workshop is offering an industry-first practice in our Repurchase program. Customers who would like to redesign a space, move, downsize, or otherwise need to rehome a piece of ours can come to us first, and we will offer a market-beating purchase offer.
Alinea Workshop is interested in stewarding these pieces to their best homes. We understand that sometimes this is not a life long relationship, and that’s ok. When someone is ready to offload a piece, we would rather buy it back and start the process again to find someone else interested in our work and our story.
Trade Pricing
Alinea Workshop offers trade members 15% off list price on any item and more for larger packages. To join our trade list, please reach out to us via email with the relevant details of your practice, and copies of your relevant sales tax and use certificates.
