Informally, Alinea Workshop was founded in 2020.

That’s when I received my first commission from a good friend who asked me to make a small table for his wife. I was thrilled to take the challenge on and since then it’s all I’ve wanted to do: make good things for good people.

My name is Kevin Buso and I founded Alinea Workshop as an expression of my desire to make quality things for people to cherish for years to come. I believe it’s meaningful work to help people enhance their lives through thoughtfully made objects.

I’m a sentimental person. I hold people close to my heart however briefly they’re in my life. My home is layered with things, from furniture and wall art to ceramics and tchotchkes, that all have their own story. Together they add up to tell my story, and that’s true for all of us.

I was born in New York’s Hudson Valley, and mostly stayed close to home near the river. I have an auto racing and mechanics background, and further honed skills in the metal fabrication industry. I was a hobbyist woodworker in my spare time, plodding along making the odd item or plywood furniture piece.

In 2020 I was at a crossroads, dissatisfied in a “cool” sales job, thinking deeply about what was next for me. I recognized that working with my hands had always given me the most satisfaction and that realization came the same time as the pink slip from that “cool” job, so it wasn’t difficult to decide what to do. I landed in a furniture shop in Hudson NY, which provided an excellent crash-course on making furniture and running a small business.

After a move to Baltimore and making a new home in a thriving artistic community, Alinea was formally founded on April 1st, 2024. April Fools indeed.

Even in the earliest stages, Alinea Workshop has allowed me the freedom to express myself and my values, and tell my story.

I hope to be able to make something for you that helps tell your story.
